About Jeekota
Jeekota started from a simple idea — people should be able to come together around the things they care about, whether that means having an honest conversation about a problem in their community, or pooling resources to actually fix it.
We built this platform because we noticed that most of the time, great ideas die in group chats. Someone shares a plan, people get excited, and then nothing happens. Jeekota gives those ideas a proper home where they can grow.
What You Can Do Here
Discussions
Start a conversation about anything that matters — from a neighbourhood issue to a business idea you have been sitting on. Other people can weigh in, share their thoughts, and you get to see if your idea has legs before you commit to anything.
Mock Crowdfunding
This is where you test the waters. Say you want to raise money to build a school or start a project — instead of asking people to send money right away, you first run a mock campaign. People pledge to show they are interested and willing to back you. No money changes hands at this stage. It is basically a way of asking "if I actually do this, will you support it?" and getting a real answer.
Here is the important part: if your mock campaign does well and you decide to go ahead with the real thing, you will not be doing it alone. At that point, regulatory bodies and partner institutions step in to oversee how the funds are collected and managed. This is not optional — it is how we make sure nobody gets scammed and every naira or dollar goes where it is supposed to go. The rules that apply depend on where you are (it could be local regulations, regional standards, or international best practices), but the goal is always the same: keep things honest and transparent so that everyone involved can trust the process.
Donations
Sometimes you just want to help. Maybe someone needs medical care, or a school in your area needs new books, or a local charity is running a campaign. Donations on Jeekota let you contribute directly to causes you believe in. You pick a campaign, choose how much you want to give, and that is it.
